Welcome to the Java Community Process!

Welcome to the JCP community, a gathering place of those who are involved in JSR projects as well as those interested in work defined by the JCP process. This community is designed to be a place for JCP discussion and collaboration. The development of the outputs of a JCP — the Specification, the Reference Implementation (RI) and the TCK — will take place here on java.net.

The JCP projects found here are led by Spec. leads who have decided to leverage java.net's infrastructure for JCP development and collaboration. You will also find other JCP discussions that may or may not be led by Spec. leads or those involved in the JCP. Each java.net hosted JCP Project has a public area where discussions will take place between the community and those involved in the JCP development project.

JSR Implementations are not found here.

Setting up a JSR project on java.net
Jan 9, 2012

JCP 2.8 contains a number of required measures to ensure transparency of the operation of the Expert Group. JCP 2.8 JSR Specification Leads are free to come up with their own implementations of these requirements, but one way of doing them is to create a project on java.net for the JSR. This page explains how to do this.

JCP 2.8
Oct 26, 2011

JSR 348, Towards a new version of the Java Community Process, is Final. You can read an Article on the JCP site that highlights the main areas of changes.
In light of these developments, the program office has completed work to upgrade the current JCP program from JCP 2.7 to JCP 2.8. You can view the new documents, such as an overview of the changes, the EC standing rules, and procedures on the JCP site. One of the other new pages in the Spec Lead (SL) Guide includes instructions for using java.net to meet some of the requirement of JCP 2.8. Materials for Spec Leads on the Multimedia page include Transparency (December 2011 call), JCP 2.8 Overview (October 2011 call).

The Program Office will host another call at 14:00 PST 16 February with special guest Martijn Verburg, JCP EC (alternate) representative for the London Java Community on the JCP SE/EE EC. Martijn also has updated the "Adopt a JSR" program pages on java.net, including the addition of a section for Spec Leads and EG members "I'm a Spec Lead / EG member - how do I bring 'Adopt a JSR' to our standard!". This has the potential to be a great resource for Spec Leads to leverage the Java developer community.
